Concorsi fotografici sì concorsi fotografici nò
Circa due o tre anni fà un mio caro amico mi disse: ma lo sai che io ormai è da tanti anni che non mando più fotografie a nessun concorso perchè tanto fanno vincere chi gli pare!!!!!
Oggi chi è in giuria qui, domani partecipa di là ed è giudicato da colui che fece vincere la volta scorsa a quell'altra manifestazione. Si giocano quindi la palla tra di sè e solo ogni tanto per cercare di non farla tanto sporca fanno vincere qualche novellino.
Io mi rifiutai assolutamente di credere ad una simile sciocchezza, da buon ingenuo dentro di me pensai che una fotografia bella si mostra da sè per come è, non può essere vincolata o pilotata da un giudizio personale, la discrezionalità o il gusto si ferma inevitabilmente di fronte ad una cosa che non può lasciare spazio a dubbi interpretativi, se una foto è bella, è e rimane bella!
Almeno così è ciò che credo o credevo, a questo punto non lo sò più.
Fatto ovviamente muro su quelle due o tre regole indiscutibili che a parer mio caratterizzano l'arte di fotografare, in primis la composizione della scena ripresa, il presentare quantomeno un'opera il cui soggetto principale sia a fuoco, cercare di utilizzare con parsimonia i programmi di fotoritocco, (c'è chi compone la foto montando e fondendo due-tre-quattro fotogrammi insieme, vale a dire mette successivamente con il computer pesciolini o altro là dove non ci sarebbero.....); a questo punto cosa si deve cercare di trasmettere a coloro che poi ti giudicheranno......... per ciò che mi riguarda cercare di presentare degli scatti particolari, che riprendano scene o situazioni particolari o comunque difficoltose o rare da essere colte, tenendo comunque sempre presente quelle regole fondamentali sopra citate.
Certo una fotografia suscita emozioni, sensazioni che in ciascuno di noi si manifestano in modi più o meno forti, su persone chiamate a giudicare immagini che magari avranno visto centinaia di volte durante la loro carriera le motivazioni saranno altre, è per questo che la discrezionalità della giuria và sempre e comunque rispettata, ma quando vengono premiate opere talmente banali, irrilevanti ai fini artistici nè tantomeno biologici solo perchè l'autore è il figlio di tizio o l'amico di caio, oppure quando opere già presentate e magari anche già premiate in altri concorsi vengono riproposte e riclassificate, allora non si può non ribellarsi.
Il nostro paese è pieno di furbetti del quartierino, non lasciamo che possano sporcare delle manifestazioni così sane, anche utili ai fini della ricerca scientifica, eventi che ti permettono di fare nuove conoscenze, instaurare nuove amicizie, una sorta di competizione goliardica che finisce tra i contendenti magari con...la prossima volta vedrai!!!!! Non mettiamo anche qui l'interesse o il profitto davanti a tutto.
Impariamo dai concorsi che vengono effettuati all'estero, quando si arriva a vedere le foto premiate, difficilmente c'è qualcosa da obbiettare o criticare, vincono e si piazzano 9 volte su 10 le foto più meritevoli.
Per ciò che mi riguarda, quello che ho voluto esprimere è forse l'impressione da me percepita nei vari concorsi a cui mi sono presentato, oppure è l'invidia o il rammarico di non potermi fregiare ancora di alcuna vittoria ottenuta.........spero tanto che sia così.

Contest yes or not
About 2 or 3 years ago a dear friend of mine told me:do you know that I don’t send any picture anymore since years to any photographic competition because the winner is fixed anyway!!!!!!
Today who is in one jury here, tomorrow is a participant there and judged by the winner in the former competition. So they help each other and only sometimes they let some new entry here and there just not to be discovered.
I completely refused to believe in such stupid story, since I’m an innocent mind I thought that a nice picture shows itself for what it is, cannot be limited or directed by a personal judgement, discretionality or taste stops inevitably in front of something that cannot leave space to doubts of interpretation, if a photo is nice it’s nice and that’s it!
At least that’s what I think or thought, now I don’t know anymore.
But only to object to those 2 or 3 unobjectable rules that belong in my opinion to the art of taking pictures, first of all the composition of the scene, the shooting at least a shot with the main subject in focus, managing to use the least of the retouch programs (there are people who compose the picture mounting and melting 2-3-4 scenes together, which means like for example with the pc putting fishes or other things where they are not……..);doing this what would you communicate to the jury…………for what is concerning me I try to show some special shot, shooting particular scenes or situations, or anyway difficult or rare to be taken, still always respecting those rules mentioned above.
A picture for sure inspires emotions, sensations more or less strong in each of us, on the jury who is judging immages maybe seen hundreds of times during his-her career the motivations will be different, that’s why the discretionality of the jury always have to be respected, but when the winners are works so trivial, not relevant to the artistic aims, nor to the biological ones at all only because the author is the son or a friend of somebody, or when works already known or even rewarded in other competitions are proposed again and re-classified, then it’s impossible not to react.
Our country is full of sly ones, let’s not allow them to make dirty such events, healthy and also useful to scientific research, events that allow you to gain new knowledge, establish new fiendships, a kind of student’s competition ending joyfully in….. you’ll see next time!!!!!! Let’s not put also here profit and interest first.
Let’s learn from the foreigner competitions, where when we see the winner picture, very rarely we have something to object or criticise, 9 times out of 10 the best pictures win.
Regarding me, what I express here is maybe my impression in the many competitions I was , or may be the envy or the sadness for not being the winner yet………………………….I really hope that would be the case.
